How often do you clean the baseboards in your home? What about your junk drawer?
Once a month. Once every six months. Never (haha no judgement here).
Whether you need a little guidance on how to plan out your cleaning routine or if you just clean as you feel it needs to be done and need guidance these checklists will benefit you.
These essential household chores are broken down by the frequency of how often you should complete them-daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually, and annually.
Once you determine which chores you want to be apart of your cleaning routine then you will set the frequency of the chores you want to do using the editable printable. That printable can be found at the bottom of this post.
Setting Your Daily Routine:
Here’s how to get started whether you have a set routine or not.
- Chores a Routine That Works With Your Schedule– All the chores listed on the checklist should be completed in your home at some point. You can decide on how often that is. As you set your chore frequency be honest with yourself about how much time you have to do the chores.
- Many routines will tell you to sweep daily. But I know that doesn’t work for me between blogging, cooking, my other daily cleaning habits, exercising, and my date night business. I can accept less than perfect floors. So, each decision is solely yours to make.
- Be Consistent– Similar to setting a routine for your children it is all about consistency. Set a daily routine where you can seamlessly add your chores to it. One idea is to set a day each month where you complete one of your yearly tasks.
- However, practicing consistency also ensures you stay on top of the chores without getting overwhelmed. We all know too well how quickly a house can get dirty. I feel like I wash dishes 37 times a day. And laundry…don’t get me started.
- Rewards Yourself– Too often we get bogged down with the small details and don’t take a step back to look at the big picture. As a woman, it is easy to place the role of housekeeping on your shoulders without a second thought. You are more than that. Yes, you may know it, but you still need to hear it.
- As you maintain your home find ways to reward yourself for your hard work. Take a day to rest, sleep in [if you can], or have a me-day.
As you use the free editable cleaning routines printable remember to apply these strategies to best build your housekeeping to-do list. Feel free to revamp the list in any way you’d like as well as choosing chores that may uniquely fit your home.
